District staff have been headquartered just west of the town of Woodland since 1979. The current facilities were formerly occupied by Basic Vegetable Products Company, which was a major producer of dried vegetable products, and prior to that, a Tenco Caterpillar tractor dealership occupied the space. The District’s headquarters were previously located in downtown Woodland, but the current space was very attractive because of its multiple workshops with 20-foot doors, corp yard, office spaces, and the proximity to the canal system and the Capay Dam.
In addition to upkeep of the headquarters offices, shops and yard, the District maintains a small assortment of heavy equipment that is used for canal cleaning, vegetation control and in-house construction projects. The District fleet of pickup trucks that keep staff on the roads and irrigation ditches are maintained by staff and local vendors.
